An Austrian casino has refused to pay out on a £37 million fruit machine jackpot after claiming that the machine was faulty.
Rather than the huge jackpot the winner, Behar Merlaku, was offered a free meal and a £60 prize – some way off the £37 million he had been promised.
Merlaku had been playing the fruit machine when just four matching symbols rolled in instead of the five that is required to win the main jackpot. However the machine proceeded to tell Merlaku that he had just won £37 million.
Following the casinos refusal to pay out on the win, Mr Merlaku has sought legal action and will be attending court next month in an effort to get hold of his winnings.
After the refusing the compensation offer suggested by the casino, Merlaku was even banned from the casino.
He spoke about the moment that he won, or thought he had won, the jackpot on Austrian TV.
He said: "The jackpot came up loud and clear. There was music and the sum I had won was displayed on a screen."
