After the events and repercussions of Black Friday, the American Gaming Association has emerged as one of the chief catalysts in pushing for online gambling legislation. This is some turnaround from a few years ago when the AGA and its top casino membership expressed its defiance against the possibility of online gambling. Back then it appears as if the casinos thought that the advent of such gambling activity would eat in to their products. However, it now appears as if they have come to the conclusion that if you can’t beat them, then join them!

The AGA’s president, Frank Fahrenkopf, suggested that the bill that they would be lobbying for would “be a hybrid of interstate and intrastate regulations”. The AGA is also believed to have set up a lunch which was attended by Senator Harry Reid, democratic leaders and a number of casino executives. With developments such as these, it appears as if federal legislation could be much closer than we anticipated.
