Batman and online slots fans alike can rejoice with the news that Microgaming are in the process of creating a The Dark Knight slot.
The process has been allowed thanks to a licensing agreement between Microgaming and DC Entertainment which allows the casino game creators to use characters and brands associated with The Dark Knight and the soon to be released The Dark Knight Rises.
A press release from Microgaming revealed that we can expect The Dark Knight slot to appear in online casinos this summer while we will have to wait until 2013 to see The Dark Knight Rises slot.
However it's bound to be a wait that will be worthwhile as many branded slots continue to be among the most popular games on offer in online casinos. They are very much the in-thing at the moment with big names such as Iron Man, Gladiator and The Incredible Hulk all proving very popular in online casinos.
Speaking about the deal, Roger Raatgever, CEO of Microgaming, expressed his high hopes for the slots.
He said: "To play our part in supplying online gaming software based on such a major and popular franchise is a great success for Microgaming.
"[We] will ensure that the online slot games we produce for The Dark Knight and The Dark Knight rises are reflective of the iconic nature of this brand."
