Bodog: Planning UK marketing push

Bodog, the online gambling and all-round entertainment company, is planning a concerted marketing push in the UK, backed by a multi-million pound budget.

The company, already shirt sponsor for Premier League football team West Bromwich Albion, has been granted 3 licences by the Gambling Commission and will double its marketing team from 20 to 40 come early new year in an effort to increase brand awareness in the UK.

Chief marketing officer, Dee Dutta, seems keen to gain consumer trust, in market dominated by big, established high-street names, such as Ladbrokes and William Hill. "The UK is the largest regulated market in the world today and we want to be part of that," Dutta said.

"The decision was not taken on market share. The key thing is to develop trust with the UK customer. This is one of the most important things for the industry."

Bodog are well-known for their unique and sometimes outrageous marketing stunts, much like their competitor Paddy Power, so it will be interesting to see how they plan to get the attention of UK punters, whilst remaining on the good side of the Gambling Commission.
