The London riots have been making headlines all week with pockets of looting and criminal damage popping up all over the capital. Among those affected by the looting are sportswear stores, technology warehouses and even bookmakers.
Popular UK bookmakers and online casino operators Ladbrokes and William Hill have also been drawn into the situation, with a number of their stores being damaged, burgled and robbed. Ladbrokes has been hit particularly hard with a statement from the company revealing that twenty shops have been affected with forty more considered to be at risk.
The statement went on to ensure that all cash and valuables have been taken off site and that no staff or customers have been injured. Elsewhere, William Hill has been less affected but a representative from the company still had this to say: "The situation in London has affected a very small number of our branches. We have the welfare of staff very much in the forefront of out thoughts and are working to reopen these branches."
With a small number of retail bettors being cut off from their gambling options, more will be turning to online products where Ladbrokes and William Hill will be hoping not to lose out.
