Viva Elvis
The misfortune of 34 Chilean miners became one of the biggest news stories of the year in 2010. However, while most of the miners involved may have returned to their normal lives, Edison Pena is still grabbing headlines in a slightly different way.
Pena became especially popular all over the world because of his love for Elvis and a recent trip to Las Vegas saw some of his dreams come true. While visiting Nevada, Pena was offered the chance to make a guest appearance in the Viva ELVIS show at the Aria Casino Resort.
Pena appeared in a pink Cadillac during a performance of ‘Blue Suede Shoes’ and commented afterwards that the experience was “fantastic”.
He added: “The scenery, the special effects, the music, all of you. You are the best and beautiful. I have no words.”
During his time stuck in the mine, Pena was reported to be keeping his fellow miners’ spirits high by singing a number of Elvis songs.
