The launch of the first legal online casino in the US since 2006 has been put back until October at the earliest, according to The Washington Post.

The District of Columbia was due to launch their online casino product in the coming months but the plan has now changed. Council member Jack Evans even suggested that the casino launch could be put back even further, into 2012.

The casino will be run through the state's lottery agency and will be legal for players aged 19 and over. A number of strict regulations are also being imposed with players only able to deposit a maximum of $250 every week. The first legal US online casino since UIEGA will also shut down every day between 4AM and 10AM in an attempt to curb addicted gamblers.

The different games that will be available include a selection of slots, roulette, craps, baccarat and blackjack games.
