Reports of payment problems and a general lack of communication between staff and customers at Purple Lounge Casino have had industry pundits talking about them for all the wrong reasons.

The beleaguered operation – owned by Media Corp Media Ltd – has recently been bailed out with a £900,000 loan from its parent company, which can only arouse suspicion that players’ funds are not being ringfenced as they should be, although nothing of this nature has been confirmed in any way.

Purple Lounge haven’t helped their cause by issuing only vague, non-committal statements and failing to advise interested parties how the existing issues are to be resolved.

Media Corp Media’s senior executives have stated that they’re looking at a variety of options for Purple Lounge at present to stem the losses and shore up the company’s reputation in its other divisions – prompting speculation that some sort of corporate restructure may be on the cards, with a new casino acquisition remaining a possibility.

None of this will impress the casino’s regulators in their jurisdiction of Gibraltar, however; The Rock has a reputation for being home to the most reputable of all the UK Whitelisted casinos, with names like Betfred and Victor Chandler situated there. Its Whitelisted status means regulatory controls there are deemed by the UK to be at least as solid as those applicable to casinos holding a licence in Britain - which will at least provide some comfort for investors and players wondering what’s going on behind the scenes...
