The Orleans Casino
In June we reported how minimum table limits in some of Las Vegas’ best (and most expensive) casinos were dropping due to the current economic climate. Well, since first posting that news item we’ve received a lot of e-mails from players wishing to know where they can take advantage of low casino table limits. Specifically, players are interested in knowing where the best low limit roulette is in Las Vegas, as well as how casinos regain their edge on low limit blackjack games.
Well, we’re going to do our best to answer these questions and find out which casinos in particular are currently offering low table limits on their casino games. Before beginning though, a word of caution is necessary. Often, casinos will advertise low, mid-week table limits, but if you visit on a weekend, these limits will have increased. If you’re looking to take advantage of any of the following low minimum table limits, make sure to phone up the casino, or best yet, quickly pop in to check out their current table limits, as they often change without much prior warning. That aside, below you’ll find out the latest details which we could uncover about low limit gaming tables in Las Vegas.
Small Town Hospitality: Taking Advantage of Locals Casinos
As a rule of thumb, you’re bound to find lower minimum table limits in locals casinos. These are gaming destinations which are off the beaten track (so basically, off the Strip) and tend to cater for Nevada residents. If you’re looking to play table games such as craps and roulette, then we recommend Sam’s Town Hotel and Gambling Hall (yes, that’s where The Killers got their album title from), which tends to offer low minimum table limits.
Alternatively, you could check out Orleans, which is located in the Paradise area of Nevada. The Orleans is actually a casino resort, so if you really fancy venturing off the beaten track and taking advantage of low limit table games throughout your holiday in Nevada, then this is the casino for you. While the Orleans is more popular with poker players, they do offer a variety of games with table limits as low as $5.
On the Strip: Paying the Price for Low Casino Table Limits
Of course, if you’re planning a two week break in Las Vegas, you’ll be able to adventure around and check out the outskirts. If you’re just in Vegas for a few days though, or even a weekend, chances are you’ll want to stay on the Strip. Well, at casinos such as Wynn Las Vegas you’ll find blackjack tables with a minimum limit of $25, instead of the usual $50. The big budget casinos in Vegas have had to cut their prices due to the recession, so if you’re a player looking to conserve your bankroll, you’ll no doubt find that casinos on the Strip are now more accommodating than ever before to your table limit needs.
However, while the likes of Wynn might be cutting down their table limits, they are still looking to make money. The Las Vegas Sun reported in June that while minimum table limits on games such as blackjack were dropping, so were the returns on offer. Instead of paying out 3:2 for natural blackjack, the LV Sun reported that low limit blackjack tables were now paying out 6:5. While this might not seem like much of a difference, the newspaper reported how on a $10 bet at a lower limit table offering 6:5 payouts, a player who uncovered natural blackjack would only win $12, instead of the $15 they’d win on a table offering a 3:2 payout on natural BJ.
Seeking out Low Limit Tables
So, the moral in all of this? Well, the good news is that there’s never been a better time to find low limit table games in Las Vegas. As casinos are feeling the squeeze, they’re chopping their table limits down to size which is of course, in principle, great for players. However, players will be pinched by low payouts and other sneaky tricks which inevitably gives the casino back its edge.
If you’re quick enough and smart enough, you can really reap the rewards of low minimum table limits in Las Vegas, but do make sure to check the rules thoroughly before placing your $5 bet on the table.
