UK Large Casinos

Eight UK borough councils have the ability to grant a license to build a large casino. Of these eight just one has taken advantage of their license by opening up a large casino.

The casino in question is of course Aspers Casino Westfield Stratford City which was approved by Newham Council ahead of two other casinos. The casino has so far proved to be a big hit with first week figures exceeding expectations.

According to the Evening Standard the casino's first three days in operation saw 30,000 people come in, 18,000 meals eaten and 4,500 pints of beer and 500 cocktails drunk. As well as this, 6,000 loyalty club cards have been sold over three days making this casino opening extremely successful.

In light of this success it’s expected that the other seven boroughs with licenses will being to make more effort regarding their casinos.

Evidence of this is already present in Leeds as Leeds City Council has announced that they intend to begin inviting large casino applications towards the end of January. Elsewhere, Great Yarmouth Council is due to make a final decision by granting their license this month.

With the success of Aspers Stratford these councils are sure to be encouraged meaning that we can look forward to plenty more large casinos in the near future.
