Global Betting and Gambling Consultants released their 50 Index earlier this week – a list of the 50 biggest publicly listed gambling companies in the world.
Unsurprisingly the list was dominated by land-based casino operators who have the advantage of huge resorts and hotels to add to their cash-flow. However, in there with the big boys were some of the UK's finest online casino operators.
Coming in at number 16 was Irish bookmaker and online casino operator Paddy Power. This makes the company the biggest online casino operator in the public sphere.
Not too far behind was William Hill who came in at number 23 just behind MGM Resorts International. On their tail was the biggest pureplay online casino operator bwin.party Digital Entertainment. The operators of PartyCasino merged last year to create one of, if not the, largest online gambling company.
Further behind was Ladbrokes and at number 30 was the only online casino software company to make the list – Playtech. The Israeli company is the creator of the popular Marvel slots series and supply online casino games to bet365, Circus Casino and Betfair. Speaking of which, Betfair was just one place behind in 31st spot.
With many online casinos continuing to expand, it surely won't be long until even more operators are in the 50 Index with some perhaps even challenging for top spot.
