Online gambling doesn't have too many friends in the US congress. Since the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act (UIGEA) many congressmen have turned their nose up at any form of legislation for it and made it increasingly hard to regulate.

However, one congressman that has been a big advocate of online gambling is Barney Frank. Frank is a Democratic congressman for Massachusetts who has been in office since 1981.

Once 2006 and UIGEA came around, Frank emerged as a major supporter of online gambling within congress. Despite admitting that he has never even played in an online casino or gambling online at all, Frank has continued to support regulation of various iGaming bills.

In 2007 he sponsored the Internet Gambling Regulation and Enforcement Act and since then has been a part of numerous other attempts to regulate online gambling.

Fortunately, Frank won't actually be leaving office until 2013 meaning that he has two years to convince other congressman that online gambling has to be regulated. For the sake of all the online casino players in the US, we hope he manages it.
