Due to a joint venture involving Playtech and William Hill, an injunction was imposed back in February by the latter after Playtech began holding talks with Ladbrokes about a new deal involving their online casino.

Ladbrokes Casino had been looking to switch their software from Microgaming to Playtech, but William Hill had other ideas and issued an injunction, which effectively ceased all talks between the two. However, a deal has now been reached between Playtech and William Hill that will mean that Playtech are allowed to license their software to other UK online casino operators.

This has left the door open for Ladbrokes to begin talks again and complete the switch that they attempted earlier this year. An analyst at Evolution Securities hailed the deal as positive for both sides as William Hill will be able to offer more product flexibility in that they can look to use other software. It also means that Playtech will now be able to provide their top notch casino software to Ladbrokes.

It’s hoped that this will be a big step for all involved with some improved online casinos on the horizon.
