Absolute Poker, one of the online poker websites that was indicted last month for provided online gambling services to US residents has warned that it may be forced to enter bankruptcy. The owners of Absolute Poker would therefore be unable to return players deposits to them, at least in the immediate future.

According to MSN, the poker site’s owners sent an email out to shareholders that it would file for bankruptcy protection and admitted that there were no prospects for any cash flow in the near future.

Among the charges that the poker websites have been accused of are bank fraud, money laundering and illegal gambling offences, which they made by fooling banks into processing payments and deposits.

The future of online poker in the US has been put in to repute with many companies turning away from the country. Surely this proves once and for all that online casinos are a much safer bet!
