Six DC Comics Superheroes that Shouldn't Feature in Slots

Following the rave reviews Cryptologic’s Superman and Batman slots received from players and critics alike, the online casino software provider has now introduced a new Green Lantern themed slot. Complete with a classic comic book themed design, as well as the chance to do battle with Sinestro, it’s safe to say that Cryptologic’s latest DC addition will no doubt prove to be a hit with players.

As Cryptologic has already turned three of DC Comics’ best-known heroes into slots, it’s tricky to guess which superhero, or comic book series, will be next turned into a game. Given the sheer amount of DC heroes available, we’ve compiled a list of six DC Comics characters that should never appear in a slot game. In descending order, here’s who we think should be avoided, at all costs:

6. Krypto the Superdog

Simply put, Krypto is Superman’s pet dog and while there’s nothing wrong with the Man of Steel’s canine pal, chances are the hero hound wouldn’t work particularly well in slot form. Krypto has appeared in various DC Comics and even had his own TV show, aimed at young children. For now, we reckon Intercasino should consider creating a Supergirl slot before they move onto Krypto.

5. Blue Beetle

The Blue Beetle certainly isn’t one of the worst superheroes to grace the pages of DC comic books, but then again, he isn’t particularly exciting. Originally aided by some super-vitamins and a bullet proof costume, a Blue Beetle slot would ultimately be over-shadowed by Clark Kent or Bruce Wayne themed games. It’s worth noting that Blue Beetle isn’t actually a DC Comics creation and was first published by Fox Comics.

4. Jimmy Olsen

Although he’s technically not a superhero, Superman’s sidekick, Jimmy Olsen, has always been the butt of the Kryptonian’s jokes. As has been noted on various Superman websites, according to some comic book covers, over the years the Man of Steel hasn’t been too kind to the Daily Planet’s lead photographer. It’s for this reason that we wouldn’t really like to see a slot where Jimmy Olsen goes up against Kent’s superhero alter-ego.

3. Matter-Eater Lad

More circus show than superhero, Matter-Eater Lad is from the golden age of DC Comics where characters can be summed up in just a few words. As his name suggests, Matter-Eater Lad’s super power is that he can eat...stuff. While we like the idea of a slot bonus round where Matter-Eater Lad chomps through a range of items to earn prizes, the game could lose its novelty after a few spins.

2. Aquaman

Intercasino’s Sub-Mariner slot has proven to be a surprise success at the casino, but that doesn’t mean we need another aquatic superhero game. Aquaman has consistently been mocked for his powers (being able to stay underwater and talk to sea life), on shows ranging from Family Guy to Seinfield – meaning players are probably more familiar with the parody versions of Aquaman, as opposed to the “real” DC character.

1. Arm Fall Off Boy

Claiming the title as the number one DC superhero that should never feature in a slot is Arm Fall Off Boy, a superhero whose “super” power is the ability to detach his limbs and whack people with them: Seriously. Rejected by the Legion of Super-Heroes, after he fell apart under pressure, if Cryptologic consider adding an Arm Fall Off Boy slot to their casinos, then you’ll know that they’re scraping the DC Comics barrel.

Do you think any other DC Comics characters shouldn’t feature in slots? Make sure to leave your opinion on our blog post!
