Las Vegas Casinos

You might have heard that Las Vegas Casinos employ a few sneaky tricks which keep players at the tables and slot machines. While the actions that casinos employ aren’t illegal, it’s always best to be aware of the common tricks of the trade in Las Vegas casinos, so you don’t end up spending a day trapped at the tables.

Well, in today’s blog, we’ll highlight what you need to be aware of when visiting a Las Vegas casino. As casinos in Vegas are industry leaders, you’ll no doubt find the same tricks in play in casinos in London, Macau, Atlantic City and other prominent gaming destinations. Below you’ll find more information about the common tricks casino’s play on customers and how you can avoid being sucked in.

Carpets in casinos tend to be both brash and bewildering looking. While it might seem that some of the carpets may have been bought on the cheap, they’re actually specially designed. Most casinos use carpets which look like optical illusions, however, instead of attracting the human eye, they help draw its attention elsewhere. This therefore means then that instead of looking at the casino floor, you’ll instead be drawn to looking at the casino games on offer. If you find your eyes drifting towards the kaleidoscopic carpets in a casino, we recommend you just look straight ahead and keep on walking.

Another thing to look out for whilst you’re in a casino is the severe lack of clocks, time pieces and windows in a casino. As you can imagine, clocks and windows are removed in order to potentially confuse the player. If there’s no natural light getting into a casino and you can’t check the time, you’re likely to spend an incredible amount of time playing casino games. In order to keep track of how long you’ve been playing, we recommend you wear a (working!) watch when visiting a casino.

In last week’s blog we covered the Blue Man Group’s performance at The Venetian in Las Vegas and remarked that the layout of this casino is incredibly mazelike. However, it’s not just The Venetian which favours a maze layout; most casinos in Vegas feature an elaborate floorplan, which centres around the slots and gaming tables on offer. Casino deliberately have their floorplan like this so that if a player tries to leave the gaming area, they’re likely to end up walking around in circles...and end up back at the slot machines! To combat against this, we recommend you ask the casino hospitality to provide you with a map. Alternatively, you can pick a memorable landmark in the casino and navigate your way around by bearing in mind where about your chosen landmark is.

So there we have it! If you bear this Vegas tricks of the trade, then you’re sure to have a more enjoyable gaming experience.
