UK Online Casinos
We've seen a number of super casino attempts in Britain fail in recent times. First there was the proposed Manchester Super Casino that was introduced by Tony Blair's government. But those plans were scrapped by Gordon Brown once he came into power – something that Blair admitted he was furious about in his memoirs.
Ireland has also had a taste of super casino failure as their planned Tipperary Casino was cancelled earlier this year.
But despite these failures to bring a 'Las Vegas-style' casino to Britain, there is still some hope. This is according to Aspers COO Richard Noble who was speaking to InterGaming.
Noble said that super casinos would offer new opportunities for the UK gaming market to further develop its entertainment offering.
He added: "We don't have 1,000 seat auditoriums to bring big shows to town or the convention centres that you can include with a super casino."
Aspers are currently in the process of building a new large casino at Westfield Stratford City in Newham. This is one of eight large casinos permitted to be built in the UK with up to 150 slot machines. We can only hope that one day the light will be seen and we'll be able to head to a super casino without going overseas.
