Ed Ware, CEO of 32Red was understandably delighted with the news that his casino operator organisation had won their court battle with William Hill over the use of the trade mark 32Vegas.

Ware said: "This judgement firmly establishes our Intellectual Property Rights and should deter other operators from infringing our trademarks."

The dispute had been sparked by William Hill’s 32Vegas Casino signs that were ruled to be similar to 32Red’s logos. The court ruled that the similarity was enough to create confusion among consumers. The High Court of Justice of England and Wales also determined that this similarity had created negative effects for 32Red’s trade marks.

The result of this ruling is that the court will soon make an order that will set out a number of stipulations. This order is expected to include demands such as the prevention of using 32Vegas marks in the European Community, repaying of legal fees and an inquiry to take place in to the extent of the damage caused by the infringement.

This ruling has been a long time coming for 32Red CEO Ware, who had first taken William Hill to court nearly two years ago.

Ware added: "As highlighted by the judge, we have an excellent reputation as an online casino operator and a strong brand."
