888, one of the world’s biggest online casino companies, have predicted that 2010 may be a year of “consolidation” in the online gambling industry. The casino company told reporters that it was “on the hunt” for acquisitions, suggesting that they have $60 million set aside for such deals. The news comes after PartyGaming recently announced they were in talks with Bwin, an Austrian bookmaker.
Gigi Levy, 888’s chief executive, told the Scotsman that the online casino company was in talks regarding a “small acquisition” and were also at the early stages of a deal with a larger business. It’s believed that 888 are keen to establish links with American gaming operators, in the event that the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act (UIGEA) is revoked.
