Cashier Stole from Ladbrokes
Adimle Puplampu is currently in court facing allegations that she doctored betting slips whilst working in a number of Northampton based Ladbrokes Casino branches.
Puplampu, aged 24, has pleaded guilty to 12 counts of theft and false accounting, after CCTV images revealed that she was deliberately doctoring Ladbrokes’ accounts. It’s believed that Puplampu “inflated bets”, but still paid out the original amount, keeping the extra winnings for herself. Similarly, she’d also pocket the cash on losing bets, by first inflating the stakes. Puplampu is believed to have stolen at least £6,000; prosecutors allege she has taken more, but they can only go off images captured by CCTV.
Basil Lloyd-Morris, who is defending Puplampu has alleged that his client is “bipolar” and has no recollection of falsifying the accounts and stealing cash – the prosecution and Judge are equally unconvinced by this admission, with Judge Richard Bray noting; “The fraud required intelligence, working with her brain, memory and indeed greater skills than doing her proper job in paying out on betting slips”
However, while Puplampu may seem like a the classic fraudster, a quick ‘Google’ of her name brings up a variety of charity fundraising pages. JustGiving.com reports that one Adimle Puplampu was planning on taking part in ITV’s “feel good factor pound for pound pledge.” Where, for every pound Puplampu lost, visitors could donate 25p. Perhaps Puplampu theft was actually a misplaced act of charity, however, while the Judge has released Puplampu on conditional bail, she will be sentenced later this month.
