Casino Closes in Order to Avoid Raid

VictoryLand Casino in Alabama has closed its doors in order to avoid a planned raid, according to Governor Bob Riley. A recent Supreme Court ruling has found that electronic bingo machines in the state are illegal, noting that the only legal bingo games allowed in the state are those which “involve lots of human interaction, rather than machines doing the work”. Riley, who has assembled an Illegal Gambling Task Force, has been closing down casinos across the state and, after VictoryLand’s owner Milton McGregor chose to close his casino yesterday, the Governor has suggested this is proof the casino was operating illegal bingo machines.

However, McGregor has hit back at the politician’s assertion, suggesting that while VictoryLand was closed in order to make a few “computer changes”, they were not working on their electronic bingo machines. Country Crossing, a tourist attraction in Alabama which houses several bingo games closed late last week and as yet, there has been no word on when it will reopen. Riley, who is a Republican, has been urged by Democrats to legislate electronic casino games, instead of trying to remove them. Sen. Quinton Ross told reporters that Riley was wasting “hundreds of thousands of dollars at the time” on his plans to remove bingo machines, while “the Great Recession is eating away at state revenue”.

Oust Governor

The Governor of Alabama should be ashmed of himself...but, guess he's pissed because he's not getting some kickbacks from the casinos. Considering the average family income you would think he'd do the very best in keeping the casinos up and running. Every employee at the casinos that have closed should forward ALL of their bills to him to pay since he's cost them their jobs.

I think it's a darn shame...those danggone Republicans! The rich only think about themselves and don't give a darn about the middle or lower class citizens who voted them in the position they are are. Too bad that if each Alabamaian that voted for him could take back their votes to get him out of office....then what would he do?

Governor, stop being "Mr. Sourman!"
