One lucky gambler in Las Vegas has been heralded as a modern day Robin Hood, after giving away £600,000 in casino winnings to those less fortunate. “Robin”, an expert gambler in his forties, has used the money he’s earned playing blackjack in Las Vegas casinos to help those in need of cash, by inviting deserving families to send their stories to his website, RobinHood702.com. Rather than simply giving financially troubled families cash, Robin heads to the blackjack table and attempts to win their money from the casino. Its Robin’s attempt to gain the edge over the casino that has led the press to describe his actions as a modern day example of taking from the rich to give to the poor.
Robin began gambling at the age of 16 and leads a luxurious lifestyle, with private jets ferrying him from one casino to another. Admitting that most people “can only dream the sort of lifestyle” he has, Robin felt he had to share his gift for blackjack – and making money at the casino – with others. Robin has helped a variety of families, including Megan and Kurt Kegler, who were left with a debt of £20,000 after paying for drugs needed to treat their young daughter’s brain tumour.
