Crown Casino Ferrari Thief Receives Jail Sentence
Ferrari F430 Spider
A Melbourne man who stole poker player Van Marcus’ Ferrari has received a four month jail sentence. Adam Ramsay spent the evening at Crown Casino in Melbourne, before being mistakenly handed the keys for a Ferrari F430 Spider. In an act which Ramsay has since described as “dumb”, the thief proceeded to drive the car to a nearby police station, in order to report for bail, for a previous offence. Ramsay was later pulled over at a petrol station by police and consequently arrested. When asked why he took the car, Ramsay admitted that his life had “unravelled” after he became separated from his wife and children.
At the time of the theft, Van Marcus, who has won nearly $1 million playing poker, updated his status on Facebook, suggesting that he must “hold the record for the first Ferrari ever stolen in Australia”. When sentencing Ramsay, Chief Magistrate Ian Gray criticised the valet system at Crown Casino, proposing that “someone's been far too slack in their duties at the casino”. After admitting that he took the car on an “impulse”, Ramsay was sentenced to a four month sentence, which he will serve alongside a 35 month jail term for “dishonesty offences”.
