Dietmar Hamann Admits Gambling Debts

Dietmar Hamann, a former German football international and player at the likes of Bayern Munich, Liverpool, Newcastle United and Manchester City, may face court after he was served with papers from spread betting firm Sporting Index.

Hamann, who back in 1998 was signed for £8 million to Liverpool and has played in various finals, including the World Cup, was served with papers regarding a £706,000 debt he’d racked up through spread betting over the past three years.

While Hamann did pay £100,000 back, he was given until January the 3rd to pay back the remaining £606,000, he missed the deadline and now Sporting Index are planning on taking him to court. However, Hamann remains optimistic, suggesting that the matter will not be taken to court and that he and Sporting Index will “find a solution”.
