Friends in Court Over Casino Win

Two former friends are currently in court over a €2.2 million win at Palavas-les-Flots, a casino in south western France.

The friends are currently battling about who hit the jackpot as Marie-Hélène Jarguel wagered €50 on a slot machine in the casino and with the help of Francis Sune, managed to hit a huge Megapot jackpot. Whilst it was Miss Jarguel’s money which won the jackpot, Mr Sune has alleged that it was his spin which caused the jackpot to hit.

At the time, Miss Jarguel told Mr Sune she’d reward him for his spin, but after taking her to court, the slots winner told reporters that Sune “is a crook”, noting that she “wanted to give him something out of solidarity. But now as he has taken me to court, he'll get nothing”.

The casino laws are particularly ambiguous about the win and The Telegraph has reported that “the judge faces a legal void in the first case of its kind in France, as there is no judicial definition of what constitutes a ‘winner’ in gambling”. It’s expected that a verdict will be reached in December.
