Google may Filter Online Gambling in China

Following a recent press release from the Chinese Internet Illegal Information Reporting Centre, which revealed they’d banned over 60 pornography sites, it may only be a matter of time before they clamp down on online gambling.

The Chinese Government have constantly chastised Google for allowing Chinese web users access to banned websites, ranging from Myspace.com to Apple.com. While they haven’t suggested they’ll be banning online gambling in their latest press release, many believe the Chinese Internet Illegal Information Reporting Centre will soon put pressure on Google to ban online gambling related websites.

China recently enforced the installation of Green Dam Youth Escort, software which restricts and blocks a variety of content. On July 1st 2009, it will be mandatory for all computers in China to have the software installed, or ready to install via a compact disc.
