Harrah's Reveal new Online Casino Plans
Back in April we reported that Harrah's Entertainment had hired ex-Partygaming boss Mitch Garber, although his role had yet to be revealed. Well, we presented you with two options; the first being that Harrah's would try to crack the online casino market or that Garber would be employed to help revitalise the land-based casino brand. We'll hold our hands up and admit that we sided with the second one, simply because we believed Harrah's wouldn't spend their time trying to crack the already busy online gambling industry...Well, we were wrong.
Harrah's Entertainment has now revealed that they've hired Garber to head their new Harrah's Interactive Entertainment (HIE) Brand, which includes the highly successful World Series of Poker (WSOP). While it has yet to be announced whether Garber really will be heading up an online poker site (back in April Harrah's vehemently denied this) or whether they'll be starting up an online casino. However, one thing's for certain, Harrah's Interactive Entertainment will be aimed at the online gambling market.
In a recent press release regarding this new subsidiary, the chairman of Harrah's, Gary Loveman, revealed that "as the world’s largest gaming company" it's important Harrah's take "a proactive approach toward international and interactive expansion. It is important we position ourselves to explore new markets as well as new technologies with our best in class brands.” Whether Harrah's will offer US players the chance to gamble online, like online casinos such as Rushmore casino do, remains to be seen.
