Harry Kakavas Loses Crown Casino Lawsuit
Harry Kakavas, an Australian high roller who gambled away millions of dollars has lost his long running lawsuit against Crown Casino. Kakavas allegedly wagered nearly $1 billion over a 16-month “betting spree” but a judge has ruled that the casino did not, as Kakavas has suggested, “prey on him”. Judge David Harper told Kakavas that he must pay back over $1 million owed to the casino, suggesting that the casino hadn’t conspired to trap Kakavas in debt.
Speaking to the court, judge Harper suggested that Kakavas “was the highest of this country's high rollers”, noting that “he enjoyed some spectacular wins. In the end, however, he lost all he won, and more”. It’s estimated that Kakavas has lost over $30 million through his lawsuit against Crown Casino.
