End of an era at Las Vegas Hooters Casino

While Hooters might not have successfully spread its wings over to the UK, in the US the restaurant/casino brand is a symbol of everything American which makes the recent news that the Hooters Casino resort in Las Vegas may close down a blow to tourists, gamers and Americans alike.

It’s been revealed that Hooters missed a repayment of $5.7 million and have had to call the lawyers in. The casino resort has just 30 days to make the payment, else they’ll be charged the full debt of $150 million - a move that will no doubt spell the end of the Vegas casino.

Hooters CEO Neil Kiefer is keen to play down the cash flow problems at the casino, suggesting they “ have never missed a payment,” and that they’re “current on all our bills and have not laid anybody off.” According to Kiefer, Hooters have “held back to preserve cash because the outlook in Las Vegas for 2009 had not improved."”
