A lucky bus driver has scooped a £2 million jackpot win through the National Lottery, just one day before receiving his decree absolute signalling the end of his marriage. Kevin Halstead went out with friends after he received the divorce notification from the courts and decided to purchase a lottery ticket on a whim. While Halstead might have had to share his £2.3 million prize with his ex-wife, Helen, he received the paperwork just in time and now gets to keep the full amount of his lottery win.

A friend of Mr Halstead told The Sun that you just “couldn’t make it up”, noting that after celebrating the end of the divorce process, Halstead managed to scoop half of the £4.6 million jackpot on offer through the National Lottery. Halstead’s ex has suggested that they are “the best of friends”, noting that the divorced duo “get on better now than when” they were married. Kevin and his new partner initially kept the lottery win under wraps, but today will be facing the press to talk about their well-timed win. Helen Halstead told The Sun that the £2 million jackpot couldn’t have been won by a nicer person, noting that she wishes “him all the luck in the world”.
