Las Vegas Woman on Probation for Online Gambling

A woman from Las Vegas who helped process payments and credit card charges for an online gambling company has been put on probation for one year, after being trialled and sentenced in Utah. Tina Hill admitted to breaking the Wire Wager Act, which states that you cannot use “a wire communication facility for the transmission in interstate or foreign commerce of bets or wagers or information assisting in the placing of bets or wagers on any sporting event or contest”.

Prosecutors told the court that Hill, along with Francisco and Kimberlie Lombardo, acted as “operators” for a network of companies which processed up to $150 million in online gambling wagers. All three have been sentenced to probation by Judge Clark Waddoups, but residents in Utah have hit back at the Judge’s “relaxed” approach to this breach of the Wire Wager Act.
