Man Fined for Plymouth Casino Attack

Stanley Casino
A man who attacked another casino patron after the latter complained about his own bad luck has received a 12 month community order and has been ordered to pay £435 in compensation. Tony Nimmo attacked a sailor in Stanley Casino, Plymouth, after the latter allegedly made offensive remarks about Nimmo’s party, who were celebrating a series of wins in the casino. The casino manager spotted Nimmo arguing with the casino goer early in the morning on December the 23rd, after which Nimmo punched the sailor in the face and was escorted out of the building by the casino staff, but then returned in order to attack the casino customer again.
Alan Harris, who represented Nimmo in court, suggested that his client was enjoying an evening out with friends and family when the sailor began commenting on Nimmo’s gameplay. After each win, Harris suggested that the sailor was becoming “increasingly offensive”, noting that “his comments were getting nastier”. Nimmo was ordered to pay £100 in compensation to his victim, as well as £335 to Stanley Casino for breaking a door after he returned to the gambling venue in order to attack the sailor again.
