Mitch Garber Discusses Harrah’s Online Casino
Mitch Garber has revealed what he thinks will happen with online casinos in the future. The former PartyGaming boss, who now works with Harrah’s Casino, has suggested the following to eGaming Review:
“The future of online gaming is going to be not dissimilar from the current situation with land-based gambling. There will be a few, very strong global operators that dominate, and obviously it is Harrah’s strategy to be one of those leading global operators, and to leverage our brands and the expertise of the people that I’m bringing on board to see that that happens.”
Garber’s discussion opens up various questions for the online casino industry, such as where will online gambling be in the next few years? As so many players already have their favourite online casinos, how will new sites compete? Finally, if there really is just “a few very strong global operators” dominating the online casino market, will they all soon be Vegas born and bred casinos such as Harrah’s?
Garber’s comments also indicate that Harrah’s believe legislation in the US will change with regards to online gambling. However, no one will know how Barney Frank’s new legislative framework for online casinos will be accepted until, at the very earliest, September.
