Palm Springs Casino Plans Renovation
A casino in Palm Springs, California, is hoping that its recently completed renovation will attract visitors to the gambling venue once again. Spotlight 29 Casino, which is owned by the Twenty-Nine Palms Band of Mission Indians, celebrated its 15 year business anniversary by revealing the fruits of a $52 million renovation.
MyDesert.com has reported that the renovation has allowed an addition of 150,000 sq ft to the gaming floor, meaning that the casino can now fit in 36 extra table games. The casino has also revealed a new slots area and a “eight-bay virtual roulette wheel”. The Twenty-Nine Palms Band of Mission Indians chairman, Darrell Mike has suggested that while the renovation could be considered as risky, the casino now has the “wow factor”.
The renovation of Spotlight 29 Casino also meant management had to take on an extra 650 members of staff. The mayor of nearby Coachella, Eduardo Garcia, has suggested that “the investment (the) tribe has made has not only benefited the entire community”, it will also play a “critical role in the recovery of the Coachella Valley".
