Las Vegas Sands Corporation’s chief executive officer has announced plans to create a strip-style casino resort in Spain.
The casino is expected to be located in or around Madrid or Barcelona with official from both areas in talks about the potential creation of a super casino. The project could include as many as 20,000 hotel rooms, retail and convention areas and could be responsible for creating an impressive 180,000 jobs.
Sheldon Adelson is the CEO of Las Vegas Sands and confirmed: “I want to do a mini Las Vegas in Europe.”
Adelson added that his organisation were seriously looking into the possibility of making this plan a reality and revealed that he was intending to meet with contractors to discuss how the creation of the resort would take place.
Potential stumbling blocks in Adelson’s plans include needing permission from the Spanish government and Adelson acknowledged how important the support of the government would be if the project were to go ahead.
He added: “We can’t draw up a plan, give it to the building department and wait six months to get an answer.”
