Wynn Resorts
Steve Wynn has informed stockholders about his plan to take over the struggling Foxwoods Casino project located near Columbus Boulevard, Philadelphia. The casino titan, who owns properties in Atlantic City and Las Vegas, has suggested that he will outline his plans to the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board for the proposed resort, which he has dubbed “the cutest casino you have ever seen.” While Wynn has admitted he’s already signed a letter of intent with regards to taking over the Foxwoods casino site, whether his company will be allowed to take over the struggling project is dependent on the decision of the Gaming Control Board. As it stands, the current casino owners (the Mashantucket Pequot tribe) are facing losing their lucrative Foxwoods license, due to delays with the project.
Wynn has remained notably tight-lipped about what he plans for the casino, indicating it will be a relatively straightforward casino resort and won’t cost “an earth-shaking number”. However, Wynn has revealed the resort will house 3,000 slot machines and feature cuisine which caters for local residents, including Italian and Vietnamese residents. Speaking about the local area surrounding the casino, Wynn suggested that its “full of my old friends - the Italians and Jews and every conceivable type of ethnic group that likes to play craps and gamble - and they're only 10 minutes away”. It’s believed the Gaming Control Board may reach a decision on the future of the casino project as early as next week.
