Taiwan Investing in Gambling Classes

Recent legislation in Taiwan has meant that land-based gambling will now be legalised. The hope is that Taiwan will soon become a high class gambling destination, like Macau.

Even though 484 miles separates Taiwan and Macau, Taiwan News, has reported that institutions from Macau were entering the Taiwan training market, in an effort to train up staff for the forthcoming casinos. The Taipei College of Maritime Technology announced that it would be offering a new gambling course, which would train up future croupiers and casino dealers.

The college’s Vice President, Chiu Shao-yi, suggested that few tour guides in Taiwan are trained in gambling operations and while the college doesn’t wish to seem like it’s supporting gambling, it sees these new classes as necessary.

While legislation now approves gambling in Taiwan, citizens still have to vote on whether the Penghu islands should be home to the first casino.
