Toronto Bank Robber Pleads Guilty
An employee at an investment firm on Toronto has pleaded guilty to committing 10 robberies at banks in Ontario. Kevin Pinto, who worked at Paradigm Capital, has suggested that he committed the robberies because of an addiction to gambling.
Pinto would enter a bank he was planning on robbing and begin discussing the U.S exchange rate. Pinto would then slip the bank employee he was talking to a note, suggesting he was armed and that he required “100’s, 50’s (and) 20’s.”
It’s believed Pinto netted around $30,000 from the robberies, but this wasn’t enough to keep creditors away. Pinto’s lawyer, Calvin Barry, suggested that gambling “took over his life. It was like a Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde type of scenario.” It’s believed Pinto will serve between 7-9 years in prison.
