UK Casino Gaming Laws set to Change?

Gambling Legislation

Gambling Legislation

The Gambling Commission has ordered for a review to take place concerning gaming rules in UK casinos. The proposals made would actually see the current legislation (Rules of Casino Games in Great Britain) cease to have an effect, with rules about what games casinos can offer becoming less strict. This would open up the possibility for new games, rules and side bets to be introduced in to land based casinos.

The current Rules of Casino Games document was issued in July 2008, as an update of the original version which was created in August 2007. This document states that casinos may only offer games that have been included on the Gaming Commission’s list of approved games, with the exception of those offered on a previously approved trial basis. Many casino owners and players have voiced their unhappiness about the current rules, with the general feeling being that they are too strict and don’t allow for innovation or variety.

The new structure would mean that casinos would be able apply for permission for games that are not on the approved list to be used. However, the Gaming Commission will retain the right to list any game that they do not want to be played.
