William Hill Online has had an injunction approved in court to stop Playtech from selling any of its software to Ladbrokes.

The deal also means that the current joint venture existing between William Hill Online and Playtech will not change.

A statement was released yesterday by William Hill that confirmed the gambling giant had managed to secure an injunction against Playtech to uphold the agreement already held by the two companies. The move is being viewed as a defensive measure to allow William Hill Online to protect its rights following the news of discussions taking place between Ladbrokes and Playtech.

eGaming Review reported that Playtech were aware of the injunction being filed and that it should not affect the relationship between the two organisations. It is simply a precautionary move.

Playtech have released a brief statement confirming that they are aware of the announcement made by William Hill and reiterating that the joint venture between the two companies would remain unaffected by this action.

Analysts are described the action taken by William Hill Online as understandable as they are just making sure that their current deal will not be exploited or voided by any other deals that Playtech choose to take part in.
