A woman in Ontario has been charged with criminal negligence and child abandonment, after she left her baby in a car whilst she gambled at Caesars Windsor.

The woman, who hasn’t been named, allegedly parked at the casino at 10.55pm, before heading into Caesars to gamble. At approximately midnight, the woman checked the baby, before returning to gamble again. It wasn’t until 12.25am that security officers at Caesar realised a baby was in the car and called the police.

Police soon arrived at the scene, and in a statement, have suggested that “the baby was sweating profusely but was otherwise in good condition”. The mother was notified via intercom that she had to return to her car. After speaking with the police, she then returned to the casino briefly, in order to cash in her chips. The child has now been taken into custody by the Children’s Aid Society.
